I never listen, nor do what I’m told,
It’s a lie I tell myself; I pretend to be bold.
The nightmares I have while lying in bed,
There’s voices I hear, screaming in my head.
I knew this would happen, yet I chose to try.
Now there’s nothing I wouldn’t do to get high.
You stand on my shoulder with your power flaunted
While my family watches as my eyes become haunted.
Now that I need you, you’re easily found,
In schools, down the street and all around.
There’s no way to escape your narcotic charms,
I can’t help the pleasure I feel in your arms.
You’ve become my conscience, my morals, my guide.
There’s nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.
I was warned against your wicked game,
Yet my mind is numb and I feel no shame.
Just a desperate need to be close to you once more,
Another hit, just to even the score.
The life I had is shredded from the friction,
It’s because of you; my greatest addiction.
I should have said no, I should have walked away.
If I could do it again, maybe that’s what I would say.
Because you brought me more misery than words could tell.
You took my hand and lead me straight to hell.
